Call for nominations for the UH Board of Regents

UH logoHONOLULU – The Candidate Advisory Council (CAC) has initiated the recruitment process for six seats on the University of Hawai‘i Board of Regents, including four seats for immediate appointments, due to the resignations of regents Saedene Ota (Maui County), whose term would have ended on June 30, 2015; Carl Carlson (Hawai‘i County), whose term would have ended on June 30, 2016; and Tom Shigemoto (Kauaʻi County), and John Dean (City and County of Honolulu), whose terms would have ended on June 30, 2017.  These four seats will be filled on an interim basis immediately upon appointment but with duration of appointment subject to confirmation by the Hawai‘i State Senate.

For 5-year terms beginning July 1, 2015, the Governor will make appointments of two regents:  one seat from Maui County (vacated by Saedene Ota) and one seat from the City and County of Honolulu (currently filled by Regent Chuck Gee whose term ends in 2015).

Candidates for these seats must reside in the geographic area they represent.

Applications by August 1, 2014 are strongly encouraged.  Applications for interim appointments must be completed and submitted to the Council on or before August 15, 2014.  Applications for the 5-year appointments must be completed and submitted to the Council on or before October 31, 2014.  However, individuals applying for a 5-year appointment are strongly advised to also apply for the corresponding interim appointment.

Members of the UH Board of Regents and the Candidate Advisory Council which represents various constituent groups serve voluntarily and are not paid.

  1. Anyone know why the Candidate Advisory Council at the John A. Burns School of Medicine's Medical Education Bldg., in Kaakao's 651 Ilalo Street?
    Perhaps the owner of this site wants to apply?
