Former Inouye Aid Joins Hanabusa's U.S. Senate Campaign

Peter Boylan

Peter Boylan will join Colleen Hanabusa's Senate campaign as Director of Communications effective Friday, July 19. Boylan had previously been a volunteer on the Hanabusa campaign, assisting with communications.

"We are extremely pleased to have Peter on board full time," said Hanabusa campaign chair Cameron Nekota. "His skills and experience will be a tremendous asset in what we believe will be a tough, hard-fought campaign."

The position was previously held by Richard Rapoza, who divided his time between the Hanabusa campaign and her Congressional office. He will now work exclusively on Hanabusa's Congressional staff.

"I have always said that when the time came that I could no longer effectively serve both the campaign and the Congressional office, I would step back from my dual role," Rapoza said. "I am happy to put the campaign in Peter's very capable hands."

Boylan, was previously a Senior Manager for Time Warner Cable in Washington, DC. Prior to that he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye. Before joining Senator Inouye's staff, he was a reporter at The Honolulu Advertiser from 2003-2009.

"Colleen Hanabusa is without question the most qualified candidate to represent Hawaii in the U.S. Senate. She knows how to fight for our families and understands the needs of our unique community. I am thankful for this opportunity to join the exceptional team working hard to elect the experienced, proven legislator and leader that Hawaii needs now," said Boylan.
Born in Honolulu and raised in Pearl City, Boylan is a graduate of Iolani School and earned a B.A. in English from the University of Iowa and a Masters of Business Administration from the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii.
