2011 Miss Hawaii Lauren Cheape

BY FORMER HAWAII LT GOVERNOR DUKE AIONA – Lauren Kealohilani Cheape is another young leader that I am very excited about. She has boldly stepped forward to run as a candidate for the State House of Representatives of the newly created District 45 (Mililani/Schofield/Wheeler/Wailua/Mokuleia). Lauren possesses all of the essential qualities, skills, and knowledge to be an excellent representative and therefore, I am asking you to join me in supporting her campaign for District 45.

As Miss Hawaii of 2011, Lauren appeared at numerous meetings, community events, functions, and gatherings as a representative of the Miss Hawaii United States Pageant to advocate for various social, educational, and economic issues that are confronting the people of Hawaii.

She believes serving as a representative will allow her to continue her passionate advocacy for her community on a larger scale. As a 4th generation farmer of Peterson’s Farm, Lauren will effectively serve as a voice for the agricultural community in her district and around the state.

Lauren was born, raised, and educated in the 45th District. Without a doubt Lauren would provide both organic and genuine representation for the people.

  1. I would have to see the candidates in the swim suit portion of the election before I cast my vote.

  2. I just saw Lauren Cheape in action at candidate forum in Haleiwa. Up against her opponents she excelled in 1) having done her homework and knowing what's going on in her district; 2) demeanor and attentiveness–it was a high school student-run forum, the questioners were nervous, and her beaming smile, eye contact, and careful listening affirmed the students (others kept petulantly asking them to repeat the question, Lauren always got it 1st time); 3) distinctive, pertinent answers to their questions. We need not point out that she is better looking, but Republican and conservative women generally are so that's nothing new! She is walking her district and has always been an involved member of the community. She should win!
