The public is welcome to join the celebration at the state Capitol on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, which marks the official commencement of a new legislative session. Article III, Section 10, of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii states, “The legislature shall convene annually in regular session at 10 o’clock a.m. on the third Wednesday in January.”

Rick Hamada will host his morning talk radio show with Gov. Linda Lingle on KHVH AM830 live from the Capitol Rotunda on January 21st. Come to the Capitol to be part of the festivities. It is recommended that you be there between 6:45 and 8 a.m. if you want to attend the show. To show support for Gov. They collaborated in the 1970s to open Japan up to heart implants. It was a great statement of Hawaii’s ability to do international health. They will discuss “Hawaii as a laboratory for global development of medical and surgical devices.”
Earl Bakken, a founder of Medtronic, will also be on the show to discuss his vision for a wellness industry in Hawaii.

”Deadline to register for the 2004 U.H. Business Plan Competition”
Entries are being sought for the U.H. Business Plan Competition held by the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship & E-Business, College of Business Administration, University of Hawaii at Manoa.
The U.H. Business Plan Competition seeks to provide an integrative learning experience for participating students who are interested in pursuing entrepreneurial opportunities. Teams vie for $50,000 in cash prizes, with the help of community business mentors, help sessions and special speakers.
The first place winners will receive a cash prize of $25,000. The second place winners will receive a cash prize of $15,000 and third place winners will receive a cash prize of $10,000.

”Ka Shue – a One-Woman Show at Paliku Theatre at WCC”
Ka Shue (“Letters Home”), a one-woman show written and performed by
New Zealand playwright and actress Lynda Chanwai Earle, will held at Paliku
Theatre on Saturday Jan. 24, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at 4 p.m.
Admission is free.
Multi-talented writer and performer Earle is a fourth-generation
Chinese New Zealander. Born in in London, she spent her early childhood in
New Guinea before completing her education in New Zealand.
As a jazz poet, performance artist, filmmaker, playwright and actor,
she has performed her work for 15 years.
Ka Shue is the first authentically New-Zealand-Chinese play for
mainstream audiences. The semi-autobiographical play follows the lives of
three generations of Chinese women and represented New Zealand in the Fourth
International Women Playwrights’ Conference in Galway, Ireland.
