Sorry Girls, You Missed Alex O’Loughlin

Hunky Hawaii 5-0 Star Alex O’Loughlin made an appearance at the Hawaii State Capitol on Thursday, March 31.  Hawaii 5-0 was honored by state lawmakers on both the House and Senate chamber floors for the production’s contribution to Hawaii’s economy and visitor industry.

There with O’Loughlin, were fellow actors Daniel Dae Kim and Hawaii actor Al Harrington, two executives from CBS and one of the primary writers. Cast and crew from Hawaii 5-0 and state and city film directors were in the gallery.

Two senators have ties to Hawaii 5-0. Sen. Michelle Kidani, D-Mililani, made a brief appearance as a juror in Episode 6 of the current production, while Sen. Gil Kahele, D-Big Island, was in the original 5-0.

Sen. Sam Slom’s research assistant, Miriam Landru, will be featured in the last episode of the season.

The legislature was hoping that the CBS executives would take this occasion today to formally announce the go-ahead for season 2 for Hawaii 5-0. The executives present, however, did not reveal anything and all indications are now, that the official announcement will be made around May 16 when the major networks announced their fall programming schedules. Everything that was said, however, was positive today.

CBS executives did reveal that the one year cost for the production here was in excess of $40 million and they also have a policy of hiring nearly 80 percent of all workers from Hawaii.

Trump: There’s Something on Obama’s Birth Certificate That He Doesn’t Want Us to See

New York Real Estate Mogul Donald Trump told Fox Talk Show Host Bill O’Reilly that there is something on President Barack Obama’s birth certificate that Obama does not want Americans to see.

In the interview, now posted on YouTube, O’Reilly said he dismissed the controversy after investigating it himself because the announcements published about Obama’ birth are in the two Hawaii news dailies, The Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Two weeks ago, Trump said he felt like it was possible that Obama born in the United States, but today, he said he is not so sure because of many pieces of evidence he reviewed since. Trump said average people who don’t believe Obama was born in the United States are afraid to speak out because they will be ridiculed.

Rush Limbaugh to take on Honolulu City Council at the Steps of Honolulu Hale?

Rush Limbaugh joked on his popular national syndicated radio station yesterday that he planned to go to the Honolulu City Council after his noon golf tee time to respond to the council’s attempt to sanction him for his imitation of Chinese dictator Hu Jintao.

Limbaugh, a frequent visitor, comes to Hawaii to golf and vacation. Both Honolulu Council members Romy Cachola and Stanley Chang introduced a resolution to condemn Limbaugh and ask advertisers to stop supporting his radio program. It was part of a campaign across the county by liberal lawmakers to attack Limbaugh on this issue.

Limbaugh’s comments were documented here:

RUSH: The Honolulu City Council has passed an official resolution condemning me…over my so called impersonation of Hu Jintao…No, I’m not kidding!”

“You know, I am responsible for quite a bit of economic stimulus in Hawaii, from their medical community; to the hospitality community; to the golf course community.”

“The City Council of Honolulu [passed] a condemnation, an official resolution demanding that I apologize.”

“We have to check the archives to see if the Honolulu City Council ever did issue a condemnation of Mao Tse Tung for the genocide of Chinese people back when the cultural revolution, the great leap forward and all that stuff, took place,” asked Limbaugh.

The only council member of 9 to oppose the sanction was Tom Berg. See Hawaii Reporter’s coverage here.
