HONOLULU, HAWAII – Hawaii Pops, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the best in popular music to Hawaii audiences, opens its season with an Orchestra Series concert at the Hawaii Convention Center Ballroom on September 14, 2013 at 8 p.m.  Making the evening even more special: the Hawaii Pops will be joined by country music superstar Jo Dee Messina in a concert that will have you itching to get on the dance floor!

Messina, a two-time Grammy Award nominee, has seen nine of her singles top the Billboard county music charts.  She has sold over five million albums since exploding onto the country music scene in 1996 with the song Heads Carolina, Tails, California.  Five of her albums have reached platinum or gold-certified status as tabulated by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The Orchestra Series brings together well-known artists with the Hawaii Pops for a one-of-a-kind musical experience.  Each concert, held at the Hawaii Convention Center Ballroom, features drinks, dining, and dancing.  Food and beverages are offered a la carte.  A wide variety of seating choices is available, including individual seats, cocktail tables, and large tables for parties of 10.

“Our first concert is shaping up to be a landmark evening, with Hawaii’s best orchestral musicians and the incomparable Jo Dee Messina,” said Artistic Director Matt Catingub.  “I guarantee this will be a terrific evening for locals and visitors alike.”

The Hawaii Pops season continues through May 2014, and will feature other great performers such as Sheena Easton, Al Jarreau, Keali’i Reichel, Jim Nabors, Cathy Foy, and Taylor Dayne as they celebrate the music of Hawaii, James Bond, the Holiday Season, and much more.  In addition to the Orchestra Series, the Hawaii Pops also presents its more intimate “Live at Lewers” cabaret concerts at the Lewers Lounge at the Halekulani Hotel.  The first “Live at Lewers” performance is on November 15 and 16, 2013, and features guest performer Jack Jones. Tickets for “Live at Lewers” will go on sale on September 1.

Individual tickets for the Orchestra Series are $35 for theatre style, $60 at a cocktail table and $75 at a table for 10.  Table purchases are $360 for a cocktail table of six, and $750 for a table of 10.  Food and beverages are sold a la carte.  Tickets are available for purchase at www.hawaiipops.com or Honolulu Box Office at http://honoluluboxoffice.tix.com/ or by phone at 550-8457.
