REPORT FROM THE HAWAII REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY – HONOLULU — After little more than one year since taking the Hawaii political scene by storm, the Hawaii Republican Assembly (HIRA) has just realized a significant increase in its influence beyond Hawaii’s shores.  HIRA’s National Director Willes K. Lee was elected to the leadership team of  the American Conservative Union (ACU). Lee is the first Hawaii Republican to serve with the ACU leadership.

As a member of the ACU Foundation’s board of directors, Lee serves alongside some of the most influential conservatives in the nation, from renowned businesswoman Carly Fiorina and Al Cardenas who heads ACU to Millie Hallow of the National Rifle Association and Cleta Mitchell.  Lee is tasked with helping to steer the oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization in the nation which fights on behalf of Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense. ACUF is directly responsible for the annual CPAC Conference.

Last summer, Lee was elected as the National Federation of Republican Assemblies’ Pacific region vice president. He is the first Hawaii Republican to hold National Assembly office.   Lee works closely with NFRA president Sharron Angle, who in 2010 came close to unseating Democrat U.S. Senator Harry Reid of Nevada.

Lee continues to serve as a founding and current member with the RNC Conservative Caucus, the group of twenty most conservative members of the Republican National Committee.  The RNC Conservative Caucus was founded to promote conservative Republican principles, policies, and politics, and to educate the public.  Lee is the only member from Hawaii having served since his term state Chairman of the Hawaii Republican Party from 2007-2009.

As HIRA’s National Director, Willes Lee draws extensive experience as a former Hawaii Republican Party State Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Rules Committee Chairman. Lee’s leadership in Hawaii ensures that HIRA continues to grow as the conservative standard-bearer for Republicans in the islands, the unofficial base of the Republican Party in the 50th state, and as the leading advocate for conservative solutions in the islands.

QUOTE FROM WILLES K. LEE:  “It is a pleasure to work with several great teams. It is an honor to assist the cause of conservatism in Hawaii and nationwide.  The success and influence of HIRA in the past year is a testament to what can be done when we adhere to conservative principles and work hard to shape the debate.”

Lee is married with two grown daughters. He is retired from the US Army, lives on Oahu and attends Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aiea.
