Hawaii State to Begin Licensing Athletic Trainers

REPORT FROM DCCA – For the first time, the Professional and Vocational Licensing (PVL) Division of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) will begin the implementation of the Athletic Trainers Registration Program effective January 1, 2013.  

Act 198, which was passed during the last legislative session, establishes the Athletic Trainers Program.  By establishing registration requirements and regulatory standards for athletic trainers who practice or represent themselves as an athletic trainer, the legislation is intended to ensure the quality of care of the practice of athletic training in Hawai'i.

Application forms are now available.  For information on where to find an application form and how to apply for an athletic trainer registration, please visit our website at http://hawaii.gov/dcca/pvl/programs/athletictrainer
