The National Journal recently ranked the 15 most liberal United States Senators, and no surprise for those who follow politics here, both Hawaii senators made the list.

Brian Schatz came in first as the most liberal Senator in the nation, tying for that top stop with two other Democrats, Chris Murphy of Connecticut, and Chuck Schumer of New York.

Hawaii’s other senator, Mazie Hirono, ranked close behind Schatz as the fourth most liberal Senator in the nation.

For the past three decades, the National Journal has rated members of Congress based on selected roll-call votes from the previous year to see how they compare on an ideological scale.

For the 2013 ratings, National Journal examined all of the 291 votes in the Senate—and identified 117 votes that showed ideological distinctions between members.

  1. Yep michael Zach, Brian Schatz(BS) & B.O. are left liberals ruining OUR country recently:
"President Obama has appointed Kevin Jennings, founder of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) — which sponsored the conference that produced the notorious "Fistgate" scandal (in which young teens were guided on how to perform dangerous homosexual perversions including "fisting") — to head up "Safe Schools" efforts at the Department of Education."
If this continues, CHINA will really be the most powerful country in the world.

  2. Not surprised when hsta will support Ige instead of B.Schatz's mentor, Abercrombie. HSTA President Wil Okabe says Ige “has always been a strong supporter of public education and public school teachers, and he has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to improving Hawaii’s educational system”.
