BY JEFF DAVIS – I would like to offer my congratulations to all of the other winners of Saturday’s primary elections.  I offer condolences, as well, to the many civic minded people who offered themselves as candidates and despite effort and time did not advance to the general election.

I look forward to a spirited, civil, and detailed, conversation and debate with the other three candidates for Governor of Hawaii over the coming months.  I hope all of us will be able to put aside some of the negativity that has come to characterize elections here and focus on setting a clear message on policy and principles.

Much talk has centered on Hawaii’s rejections of the status quo in this election.  As one of only four candidates for governor I would hope the only candidate that has not been part of the status quo would be of interest to voters.

I can be heard daily on my radio show that airs on KGU 760 from 5 to 6 in the afternoon.  Weekdays I am there live and happy to take calls from the general public or from other candidates for public office who wish to discuss the issues of the day.  The number to call is 296-5467.

  1. What's your opinion on rail?
And Gov. Neil Abercrombie has signed a bill legalizing gay marriage in Hawaii at a ceremony at the Hawaii Convention Center. Was this over the top?
