Now in its fourth year, Kiewit Building Group initiated the scholarship program for high school seniors as a way to support Hawaii students, recognize their achievements and nurture the local workforce.

“This program is great way to support Hawaii families and the community overall, but it’s also a way for Kiewit Building Group to continue developing a pipeline of potential employees,” said Sharon Thom, director of pre-construction operations.  “In years past some applicants have become interns with our company.  Our expectation is that today’s scholarship applicants and recipients will be tomorrow’s employees.”

Scholarship applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0; be accepted as a full-time undergraduate student by an accredited four-year university; intend to pursue a major in engineering, architecture or construction management; and submit two letters of recommendation. Students must complete an application and submit a 500-word essay on why they should be considered for the scholarship.
