Look How Far We’ve Come in This Congressional Campaign

Now that the Office of Elections has formally set May 22 as the close of the Special Election to fill the First Congressional District seat vacated by former Congressman Neil Abercrombie, our campaign has a firm target for our efforts.

With that in mind, I would like to first look back at all that this campaign has accomplished since I announced in October that I would be a candidate running for this seat.

I am pleased and extremely grateful for how far we have come.

Over the past few months, hundreds of volunteers have come out to help. Canvassers have delivered tens of thousands of pieces of literature as they visited homes across the First Congressional District.

Others have made countless telephone calls, identified supporters, explained my positions, and carried our message of effective leadership, legislative experience, and deep commitment to preserving all that is best about Hawaii.

We have supporters volunteering at over two dozen sign-waving events every week. Their presence signals to everyone in the district that we are right in their neighborhoods.

I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude for the work these dedicated individuals do every day to support my bid to serve the people of the First Congressional District, and I want to thank them publicly for their commitment.

As we continue to build this campaign, grow our base of support, and increase our momentum toward May 22, I wanted to recognize all the efforts of those who have put so much into making our success possible.

Our push is on. May 22 is the goal. It is more important than ever that we let voters know that what Hawaii needs is an effective, experienced legislator with a proven record of working with others to be their voice in Congress.

If you would like to join the growing ranks of those who are working together to support my campaign, call our headquarters at 593-9934, or visit our web site at http://www.hanabusa2010.com to see what we’re doing, and to learn how you can help.
