BY LINCOLN JACOBE –Don’t miss the crowning of the next Miss Hawaii! The annual Miss Hawaii pageant will broadcast live on OC16 starting at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. Watch from the comfort of your own home as a dozen beautiful and talented contestants from the islands of Hawaii vie for this most coveted role.

“Miss Hawaii Organization is proud to continue our community service in Hawaii by partnering with education programs, schools, businesses and government agencies while enhancing the lives of Hawaii’s young women through the Miss Hawaii Scholarship Organization,” said Lincoln Jacobe, President of the Miss Hawaii Organization.

Twelve contestants representing communities across the state will compete in the pageant, including Miss Kahala Brittni Woodward, Miss Island Mokihana Daphne Sanchez, Miss Kauai Kona-Kai Wilson, Miss Kona Coffee Lacy Deniz, Miss East Oahu Lauren Cheape, Miss Waikiki Mallory Tavares, Miss Maui Maya Iida, Miss Garden Isle Shannon Dresser, Miss Chinatown Hawaii Shannon Wong, Miss Oahu Shawlea Aona, Miss Aloha Hawaii Tatiana Boteilho, and Miss Diamond Head Tiffany Ibale.

Reigning 2010 Miss Hawaii and second runner-up for the Miss America Pageant, Jalee Fuselier, will present the crown to the new winner. Fuselier is the founder and president of U.S. Dream Academy Hawaii, a graduate of Hawaii Pacific University and the recipient of the Hawaii Pacific University Presidential Scholarship Award. She has participated in community service in 21 countries and 10 states totaling more than 4,000 hours. Fuselier has had some interesting experiences in her life. She has backpacked to remote villages in Cameroon, performed an international show for more than 11,000 children in Thailand, performed on national television in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, was crowned a village princess by the King of an African village, traveled through bomb sites in India and volunteered in a village destroyed by a tsunami in Thailand.

Judges will be scoring three phases during that evening; swimsuit, talent and evening wear, which will be combined with the previous night’s composite scores from the preliminary. The winner will walk away with numerous prizes.
