North Shore Voters Shuttled to Polls as Community Service

BY GIL RIVIERE -- As a community service on Primary Saturday, Friends for Gil Riviere manned free shuttle service from the two closed voting places in District 46.

We successfully helped about 7% of voters find their voting place.  In Haleiwa, we directed 81 voters to the Waialua Precinct and shuttled two.

In Laie, we gave 26 people rides and directed many more to Kahuku.  There were no posted notices at either closed location.

I wonder how many people turned up at the other 95 precincts that were closed around the state, and how many went home without voting.
