KEKAHA, Hawaii (February 12, 2013) A unitary medium-range ballistic missile
target launches from the Pacific missile Range Facility (PMRF) and flies
northwest towards a broad ocean area of the Pacific Ocean. The Guided
Missile Cruiser, USS Lake Erie (CG-70), equipped with the second-generation
Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense weapon system, used a Launch on Remote
doctrine to engage the target with a Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IA
