Monkeywrench in Superferry Saga?
By Bill Romerhaus, 4/17/2009 5:54:05 PM

Here's another possible legal monkeywrench concerning the Superferry. Since it provided a more more convenient, inexpensive (compared to air travel) mode of interisland travel that was successfully used by handicaped, special needs, and non emergency medical patients requiring special vehicles, shouldn't this legal aspect also be covered by the American Disabilities Laws?

Is it discriminatory to deny these folks an easier and more convenient access to travel such as the superferry provided and then take it away? Which is more important, environmental or handicapped laws?

Our laws require ramps in addition to stairs on all forms of public transportation and access to most buildings, could handicapped folks legally challenge the decision to stop the Superferry in that they are being denied an alternate method of travel between the islands?
