The vote on Gov. Linda Lingle's effort to reform education through HB 2331 takes place Feb. 19th. Your voice, the voice of Maui County, is needed to make them hear that we want an opportunity for vote on "local school boards." We must act by February 18th. The three committees must pass this bill on Thursday or it will die.
We should ask ourselves ...
- Why do we have to beg our legislators to allow the people to vote on this important issue? We must demand that they listen now or we will use our power to vote to remove them.
- Why do they think they are smarter than the parents and families of the children? Forty years of failing students says they aren't.
- Why are they afraid to listen? Maybe holding on to power is more important to them that the people they swore to represent.
Maui, Molokai and Lanai responded to the call from our governor to call and write the Legislature about this. It is time to respond again. The emails and fax numbers follow.
We must stay strong and convince the state Representatives and Senators that this is something that is more important than politics. This is about the future of Hawaii. We will oust them if they ignore us.
