The top three Republican presidential candidates are focusing efforts on the southern United States Monday, on the eve of two nominating contests.

Polls indicate a close race among Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich in both Alabama and Mississippi. The states are important as candidates seek to win over conservatives and widen their support among the party base. Former U.S. House speaker Gingrich is also looking for a comeback after a win last week in the southern state of Georgia.

Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, is far ahead in the number of delegates needed to secure the Republican Party nomination, but has failed to attract support from working-class voters and religious conservatives, who have been drawn to his main rival, Santorum.

In a boost for Romney, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows he leads President Barack Obama in a hypothetical election matchup, 49 to 47 percent. The survey, which has a margin of error of four percentage points, indicates Santorum would have 46 percent support to Mr. Obama’s 49 percent.

Romney won Wyoming on Saturday, and six contests last week on Super Tuesday, including in the crucial battleground state of Ohio. Santorum, a former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, won a caucus in Kansas on Saturday, days after scoring three Super Tuesday wins .

U.S. Representative Ron Paul, who has not won a nominating contest, has single-digit support in Alabama and Mississippi.

The Pacific island state of Hawaii also votes Tuesday.

Candidates are awarded delegates through the primaries and caucuses, and a contender needs 1,144 delegates to win the Republican nomination.

The Republican Party will formally nominate its presidential candidate at its convention in Tampa, Florida, in late August. The nominee will face President Obama, a Democrat, in the November election.

  1. I have made some research about the candidates’ background. Even if I disagree with some of the candidates policies, I have an admiration for all of the candidates for trying to be the leader of the free world. All of the candidates can live the best life without becoming a POTUS. The more I see how some voters are being easily influenced by the mass media and a candidate who may say different things in different places just to get our votes, I am very much concerned about the wellbeing & the future of our beloved country. It is good to know about a candidate’s past record in order to know how he may make a decision in the future. If we nominate either Newt or Romney – we will give a red meat to the democrats to carry class warfare against them because of their records & shiftiness. Romney and Newt have/had similar views with Obama on Obamacare (individual health mandate); the bogus man-made climate change; bailouts; TARP; Cap & Trade. If Obamacare (1/6 of the American economy) is implemented, our country will be like Europe. If we give up on all of the above mentioned issues by nominating those who credibly cannot stand against Obama, I do not know why we even have an election. We have been distracted by negative ads which deal with petty issues when compared to what I have stated above.
In 2008, the left elected the most inexperienced and the most radical president ever. Knowing fully a soft spot of the conservatives, they know use our own values against us in order to use this years’ election to their own advantage. No candidate is perfect. Conservative did not come in defense of Herman Cain, Sarah Palin and others on time. The left systematically attack Santorum to get rid of him like Cain & Palin. If conservatives and all patriot Americans don’t coalesce and support this candidate who has an authentic conservative credentials and we end up with a moderate who can be easily defeated when class warfare is carried against him, we should not blame others but ourselves.
In 1976, in the name of elect-ability, the Establishment gave us moderate Gerald Ford, we got Jimmy carter. In 1996, the Establishment gave us moderate Bob Dole 9Romney supporter), and we got Bill Clinton. In 2008, the Establishment gave us moderate John McCain (Romney supporter), and we got Obama. In 2012, the Establishment gave us moderate Mitt Romney. Albert Einstein said “Insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result.”

It is troublesome to see the Republican Party trying to act like the Democratic Party. Since 1968, Republican Party got more victories due to its embrace of vital social issues. Whether we like it or not, BHO & DNC will use all issues (social, economic, personal, professional and political) that may serve them well in the fall against a republican nominee. If we want to have a candidate who could credibly challenge Obama on all issues; who is different from Obama on almost all issue unlike the other candidates, it is good to vote for Rick Santorum. Unlike Romney & Newt, Santorum has rich experiences in national security & international affairs. Please read online the two Acts he authored in 2004: The Iran Freedom & Support Act & the Syrian accountability Act. Had anyone listened to him, we could have avoided the current crisis we face with Iran a long time ago. Can we afford individuals who could be an issue instead of making BHO & his failed policies in fall? Can we afford to have another novice in national security & international affairs in this volatile world? If we vote for Santorum, we are doing something vital for the future of our country.

    #tcot #prolife WHY NewtGingrich is not a friend of the Constitution&is a globalist,opportunist&untrustworthy for POTUS https://t.co/9mQJAUCK
He made a formal appeal to the House of Representatives in 1995 to “increase the power of President Clinton” by repealing the War Powers Act. He praised Clinton’s unconstitutional use of the U.S. military to inflict a communist regime on Haiti in 1994, the same year he voted for an extra $1.2 billion for United Nations “peacekeeping” missions. He also urged the President to expand U.S. military presence in Bosnia the following year.

In 1994, Gingrich described himself as “a conservative futurist.” He said that those who were trying to define him should look no further than The Third Wave, a 1980 book written by Alvin Toffler. The book describes our society as entering a post-industrial phase in which abortion, homosexuality, promiscuity, and divorce are perfectly normal, even virtuous.

Gingrich’s liberal voting record is that he has been a member, since 1990, of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), a group founded in 1921 as a think tank of influential politicians and policymakers dedicated to sacrificing national independence to create a global government. He showed his fidelity to internationalism in a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Affairs in July of 1995 when he brazenly admitted his disdain for our founding document.

“The American challenge in leading the world is compounded by our Constitution,” he said. “Under our [constitutional system] – either we’re going to have to rethink our Constitution, or we’re going to have to rethink our process of decision-making.” He (Gingrich) went on to profess an oxymoronic belief in “very strong but limited federal government,” and pledged, “I am for the United Nations.”

These are just some of the reasons I do not trust him as POTUS,but also I can’t trust a man with our country who took an oath to God and his wives to remain loyal&faithful. I couldn’t ‘marry’ him to our country and wouldn’t marry someone with this kind of character flaw. I can forgive the sinner, but not the sin. Forgiveness also does not equate to voting for someone with such great character flaws and a globalist agenda, which endangers US sovereignty. Santorum supports defunding the UN,which would be a great step in the right direction for the US.

Character Matters,Along W/Faith,Family&Freedom-Support Santorum in 2012 https://t.co/CYKH4gY If Gingrich dropped out 58% of his supporters say they would move to Santorum, while 22% would go to Romney and 17% to Paul.

No body denies that Newt has good ideas. As a professor, he makes some high sounding and impractical suggestions like a moon colony. Those who closely knew him say he is erratic and frequently changes his mind. He was forced to resign in disgrace due to ethical charges. It is reported that he paid $300,000.00 for the cost of ethical investigation in which all of his fellow republicans voted against him. Why was he forced to pay $300,000.00 for ethical related charges if he had not done something wrong? He married three times and at the same time having mistresses on the side. Newt divorced twice due to infidelity. He has not come clean regarding the $1.6 Million he received from Freddie Mac. And so on…..
Newt, Mitt and Obama have/had similar views: individual health mandate; the bogus man made climate change; TARP; bailouts. The candidate that can credibly challenge Obama on these issues is Rick Santorum.

  3. Because of negative ads, the public is being misled to believe that a private sector experience is “better” than government experience for the top government job. Does this make sense? The only CEO who became president was Hoover. As private sector experience is needed and better in a private sector, a federal government sector experience is needed and better to run a federal government. The irony we see now is very amazing. So many people are misled to believe that a government sector experience is ‘bad” for a government sector. Thanks to Romney and his super PACs, valuable and useful words like “Team” or “Compromise” or “insider” have become ”dirty” words. Those who support Romney please ask him how the two major parties in the US Congress could come out of a gridlock without making a team effort within a party and then form a broad coalition with the other party to pass any bill? Romney is not truthful in his ads, comments. He does not even know an impact his tax plan could have on a deficit. His bravado and frequent attack on BHO in a republican primary to divert the public’s attention from his flawed past records is wrongly taken as a strength and ‘’sign” of elect-ability. Conservatives have started seeing what is going on behind the scene. Romney has not come clean on Romneycare, his money on Cayman Island and his erroneous claim that he grew Massachusetts economy and reduced unemployment rate to 4.7%, the reduction was attributed to hundreds of thousands of the people leaving the state.
Critics hit Romney job-creation record Cite workers that left Massachusetts on Washington Times 02/27/12.
On Romney’s job creation & unemployment rate reduction, please go to this website. The website states his claims are not true.

Breaking News: Romney Lied During the Last Debate
This is only an issue because Romney has made it an issue by being pro-choice in MA and then flip flopping by claiming to be pro-life now. According to fact checkers Mitt Romney lied during his last debate. His health care plan did require the Catholic church to pay for free abortions and he did not consult church leaders yet he complains about Obama’s health care plan for the same thing. What else will he lie about?
https://bostoncatholicinside… He whines about federal spending yet he used 6 million of it to pay for rearranging the lawn chairs for the Olympics and his Confederate buddy Ron Paul spent 398 million a year. Now Paul is in trouble with a campaign donor for double dipping for travel expenses.
Romney whines about No Child Left Behind yet he supported it in 2006. H…e is such a hypocrite.
Romney whines about Arlen Specter but he voted for Paul Songas. What a hypocrite.
Breaking News: Confederate Kook Ron Paul Working for Romney
Ron Paul claims to like Ronald Reagan yet he has said “Ronald Reagan is a failure” and the “CIA deals drugs.” Not only are his racist newsletters everywhere but now it is out there that his mentors were Confederates who hated Abraham Lincoln for keeping the union together. Now Romney is connected to extremists. Profiting from the liquidation of businesses and rearranging the chairs at the Olympics does not qualify you to be president. He may pretend to be Mr. Main Street but we all know he is Mr Wall Street. Vote for Romney in any election? I don’t think so.
Romney said it is impossible to know about the cost of his tax plan. Please go to this website for further details.
