I was hoping you can help me to support a cause very dear to my heart. This Veterans Day week will be bitter sweet for about 1,000 Hawaii veterans who have fallen to homelessness. Many Veterans never thought they would end up where they are today. None of them want a handout, just a helping hand.

On Saturday I will be attending the U.S. VETS 5th Annual Patriot Walk Run at the Waterfront at Puuloa in Ewa Beach(8am) to help raise money for U.S. VETS which is the only full-service housing facility for homeless veterans in the state. You can also sign up on race day at the event.

If you cannot attend please make a donation to ensure that the housing facility can give our veterans a memorable holiday season. Times have been tough and U.S. VETS definitely has felt the downturn in the economy by its donations. Whatever you can do to help them no matter how small will be appreciated by our veterans.

You can get more information on the run or donate at https://www.usvetsinc.org You can also call 682-0111.

I have been counting my blessings lately and have decided to end 2009 by giving back to those much less fortunate than I. I cannot think of a better cause to give to. I hope if you are doing ok that you can help too. If you also want to volunteer or bring a group of friends to feed or entertain our veterans during the holidays please let me know.

Anything you can do to help those who have served our country is greatly appreciated. Let’s not forget those who were willing to sacrifice everything so that we can be free.
