I’ve written a lot about what I think is wrong with local TV news. I’ve not suggested how to fix it. Here goes.
Stations hire news directors right out of the mold of other TV stations facing the same problems. Generally, they are people from media companies who have made their bones by playing within tough budget rules without crashing in the ratings
