Island Holdings Appoints Keith Amemiya as Senior Vice President

Island Holdings, the parent company of Island Insurance, Atlas Insurance Agency, IC International and Tradewind Capital Group has appointed Keith Y. Amemiya as Senior Vice President.

Amemiya will be responsible for the company’s risk management practices in addition to handling legal and regulatory compliance. He is scheduled to begin his new position on December 3rd.

“Keith brings an impressive background that spans the business, legal and non-profit communities across Hawaii,” said Colbert Matsumoto, Chairman of the Board and President of Island Holdings. “In addition to the valuable knowledge he will bring to his new position, a local company like ours can truly appreciate the commitment he has displayed to improving the quality of life in Hawaii.”

Amemiya most recently served as the Executive Administrator and Secretary of the Board of Regents for the University of Hawaii System. He also served as the Executive Director of the Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) for nearly 12 years where he spearheaded the Save our Sports fundraising campaign, created the two classification (large/small school) state championship format, and more than doubled the amount of state championships held annually. Prior to the HHSAA, Amemiya was an attorney with Paul, Johnson, Park & Niles and Bays, Deaver, Hiatt, Kawachika & Lezak law firms.

Amemiya received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and earned his Juris Doctorate from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association.
