Laniākea YWCA Launches Monthly Initiative Dedicated to Helping the Community Live Healthier Lives, Workout Week @ the YWCA

HONOLULU – On Monday, February 3rd, 2014, the YWCA of O`ahu (www.ywcaoahu.org) is launching its new monthly initiative dedicated to helping and encouraging the community to live a healthy and active lifestyle.

The initiative, titled Workout Week, or WOW at the YWCA, provides the public with the opportunity to experience the YWCA’s health and wellness programs for free during the week. Each WOW @ the YWCA is kicked-off with a “Jump Start Monday.”

During Jump Start Monday, the YWCA and partnering groups will host demonstrations in the lobby, have special seminars, guest speakers, product demos, and more. This is a great chance to meet with some of the YWCA’s fitness instructors, see the facilities, and find the right fitness plan for you. Join us at our next Workout Week.

At 12:00 PM, join triathlete Nataliia Kravchuk (https://nataliiahawaiitriathlon.blogspot.com), Bronze Medalist at 2012 ITU Sprint World Championship and a Gold Medalist at 2011 USA Sprint National Championship for a special workshop where she will be sharing her advice for creating a well-rounded fitness routine for any level.

The morning of February 3rd, 2014, Café Julia (www.cafejuliahawaii.com), a notable restaurant located at Laniākea YWCA, will debut a special healthy Chef’s entrée, highlighting the wide array of fresh, local ingredients, which will be offered throughout the entire week of WOW @ the YWCA.

During Jumpstart Monday, on February 3rd, 2013, WOW @ the YWCA will host Family Workout Night, featuring Zumba fitness and Wellness Hula.

These classes have been designed to get the whole family exercising together. Family Workout Night begins at 5:00 PM. Additional classes that are free and open to the public throughout WOW @ the YWCA include Zumba fitness, wellness Yoga, Pilates, Hatha Yoga, cardio kickboxing, Tai Chi for arthritis, and Vinyasa Yoga.

Laniākea YWCA, the YWCA’s historic downtown Honolulu facility includes an impressive cardio, fitness, and weightlifting center, and boasts a beautiful swimming pool built right into the notable architecture of the building. Clinical staff from Queen’s Heart, of The Queen’s Medical Center, will be present on February 3rd, 2014 at 12:30 PM to answer questions about heart health and to share the best practice for caring of your heart. Queen’s Heart (www.queensheart.org) is the most preferred cardiovascular center in Hawaii and the Pacific Basin.
