BY BETSY LIN – This video clip from Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report last night had me laughing out loud. Did you see it?
In the clip, starting at about the 2:45 mark, Colbert thoroughly lampoons Republican Linda Lingle’s new 24-hour cable channel. You’ve got to watch this:
Colbert mocks LingleTV as the perfect way for our likely Republican opponent to reach voters most likely to watch non-stop campaign advertising — the all-important demographics of insomniacs, people who can’t find the remote, and cats left alone with the TV for comfort.
But while we’re laughing now, we’ve got to take the threat seriously. Clearly, Lingle is going to stop at nothing to spruce up her tarnished image and try to buy Hawaii’s Senate seat for her Republican Party.
If she’s able to convert an entire TV channel to around-the-clock sugarcoated programming, what more is in store? That, I’m sure you’ll agree, is no laughing matter.
In the meantime, Mazie is taking her campaign directly to the people.
Over the past week, Mazie wowed in three back-to-back debates, and clearly presented to the people of Hawaii why she would be the best candidate to fight for our keiki, our kupuna, and our families.
