Hawaii Supreme Court Decision Knocks Down Attempt by Voters and Lawmakers to Protect Children From Sexual Predators-Court Overruled Voters, Legislature, Governor With Ruling in Taomae v. Lingle


The Sept. 1, 2005, decision in ”’Taomae v. Lingle”’ by the Hawaii Supreme Court, invalidates a constitutional amendment passed without a dissenting vote in the Hawaii State Legislature in 2004, and subsequently and overwhelmingly approved by the voters in 2004. This is extraordinarily unfortunate.
