Shown below is a quick look at this week’s unemployment data – initial claims filed.
Statewide initial unemployment claims increased by 2.8%,
with this week’s total filings of 2,576 and filings during the same week in 2009 of 2,505.
Comparing 2010 to 2009 for the counties:
- · Oahu had 138 more claims filed
- · Hawaii had 44 more claims filed
- · Maui had 84 fewer claims filed
- · Kauai had 42 fewer claims filed
In percentage changes, comparing the current week to the same week a year ago:
- · Oahu had an 11.1% increase
- · Hawaii had a 9.0% increase
- · Maui had a 17.1% decrease
- · Kauai had a 19.7% decrease
