In his August 1st ”’The Honolulu Advertiser”’ Commentary decrying Israeli actions in Lebanon, Hakim Ouansafi, Chairman of the Muslim Association of Hawaii, neglects to mention many things.
In particular, I find a complete absence of comment on any of the events listed below.
How are Americans to take the voices of the Muslim Association seriously if there is complete neglect of condemnation of any of these actions? Where is the prominent opinion piece by them on these subjects? Where are the letters to the editor denouncing anti-American hate speech? Their inability to bring themselves to condemn these organizations and their actions speaks louder to Americans than any complaints about what Israel is doing to Hezbollah and the people behind which they hide.
__Feb.26, 2006: Lebanese Prime Minister Foaud Seniora refuses US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice request to extradite three Hezbollah terrorists responsible for killing hundreds of Americans: Ali Atwa, Hassan Izzeddine and Imad Fayez Mugniyah. Mugniyah now serves as Hezbollah second in command. All three are responsible for bombings, killings and kidnapping against Americans since 1983 (see below)
__ Dec. 20, 2005: Mohammed Ali Hammadi, convicted 1985 Hezbollah hijacker and murderer of U.S. Navy diver Robert Dean Stethem, returns to Lebanese Hezbollah released by Germany after serving 17 years of his “life sentence”. The government of Lebanon refuses his extradition to the USA.
__ Feb. 18, 2005: Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in a speech televised at a rally: “… Our motto, which we are not afraid to repeat year after year, is: ‘Death to America.'” Crowd response: “Death to America” “Death to America” “Death to America” “Death to America” “Death to America” “Death to America”
__ late March 2003 and thereafter: Hezbollah Al-Manar TV, numerous broadcasts: “We are not for it [America] With our steadfastness we threaten it [America] Throughout all time we chant it America is the mother of terrorism Let the mother of terrorism fall America is the army of evil”
The video ends with footage of suicide bombers detonating their explosive belts.
__ March 21, 2002: Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Al-Manar TV: “..The main source of evil in this world, the main source of terrorism in this world, the central threat to international peace and to the economic development of this world, the main threat to the environment of this world, the main source of evil and war, and terrorism, and killing and turmoil, and civil wars and regional wars in this world is the United States of America.”
