KAILUA, HAWAII – The Lanikai-Kailua Outdoor Circle surprised organizers of Save Kailua Fireworks this morning with some great news – the Outdoor Circle offered a donation of $500, which was the final amount of $50,000 that Save Kailua Fireworks needed to raise to ensure a fireworks show on July 4, 2010, over Kailua Bay.

The show will go on – off of Kailua Bay at 8 p.m. on July 4.

More good news followed that – Tom Likos of Fireworks by Gucci Hawaii, who is the executive producer of the Kailua fireworks show, says his company wants it to be the best yet and offered to donate a substantial number of additional fireworks to make sure the show is longer, more fiery and an all around booming success.

Other major donors that ensured the show will go include Castle Medical Center ($6,000 – and our first donor); Hardware Hawaii (top sponsor at $10,000) and Target ($7,500). All Pool and Spa also generously donated $5,000.

“We are thrilled with the outpouring of support, “ says Brook Gramann of the Kailua Fireworks Committee. “We’ve had calls all week from people anxious to know, and even an email from a Kaneohe Dad who said that he and his son had an annual tradition of staying overnight on Kailua Beach and they were wondering if they’d be able to do it again this year. So yes, there will be fireworks in Kailua this year.”

Additional last minute Kailua small business sponsors include Harada Properties, Cold Stone Creamery, Island Insurance and Ueno Wine. The collections in Kailua stores by the Kailua Chamber of Commerce merchant volunteers came to more than $2,000.

In total, more than 50 businesses and hundreds of individuals came together to make sure 4th of July is celebrated in Kailua as it has been for the last 62 years.

The place to be on the 4th of July is Kailua – and stay over for the parade Monday, July 5.
