At UH Manoa’s medical school, most students pick Primary Care, a much-needed
service shortage area

Medical students around the country had their own March Madness today,
as “Match Day”, swept across the country, including here in Hawai’i.

On Match Day, graduating medical students learn where they will spend
the next few three to eight years in post-graduate training, serving as
physicians while also learning a specialty.

The ceremony has a feel of the Academy Awards, as students take turns
giving each other envelopes bearing news that will change their lives.
Nervous parents are on hand and shouts of joy and excitement are building
for the moment when all the envelopes are distributed and opened at one
time.
