Members from a Hawaii based Naval Special Warfare command will be hosting a Memorial Run at 8:30 a.m. June 28, 2012.

The memorial is to symbolize a remembrance of those Sailors who lost their lives in 2005, while serving in Afghanistan, during Operation Red Wings.

The run will begin at Ala Moana Park and continue along Ala Moana Blvd.-makai side, then onto Kalakaua Ave.-makai side, to Kalakaua Ave., past Kapiolani Park, continuing onto Poni Moi Rd., then onto Diamond Head Rd.-makai side, ending at Red Wings Park.

The Honolulu Police Department will escort approximately 150 participants along the route and the roads will be reopened progressively until all participants have cleared the area or until the participants no longer interfere with traffic.

Additionally, there will be no parking beginning at 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. along Kalakaua Ave-makai side, Monsarrat Ave to Poni Moi, and Diamond Head Rd.-makai side lookout near Coast Guard station to Kahala Ave.
Following the run there will be a brief moment of silence observed along with the laying of flowers and wreaths at the Red Wings Memorial.
